Terms of Service

The terms, in plain English.

Last updated September 10, 2026. This is the agreement behind every promise on the plans page — what each one means in practice, written to be read.

1. Who we are

WordJoy (“WordJoy”, “we”, “us”) is a subscription copywriting and content service operated by Scott Cox, sole proprietor, trading as WordJoy.co, in the State of Texas, United States. By subscribing you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not subscribe.

2. What you are buying

WordJoy is a subscription to writing capacity, not a purchase of a defined project. You pay a flat monthly fee and submit requests to a private request board. We work through your queue and return finished copy.

The plans, as published on wordjoy.co:

These terms explain how each of those promises works in practice. Nothing here takes away a promise the plans page makes; it says what the promise means.

3. Requests, and what “one active request” means

An active request is one deliverable — a single landing page, one email, one blog post, one script. Not a bundle. You may queue as many requests as you like; we work on one at a time on Standard and two at a time on Pro, in the order you set.

A request is complete when it is delivered, and delivery frees the slot. You can start your next request the moment the previous one lands.

Large projects are welcome. A project made of many pieces — a full site, a ten-email sequence — is broken into its individual deliverables, each of which is a request worked in turn, so you see finished work daily rather than silence for a month.

4. Turnaround

Standard delivery averages 48 hours from the moment a request becomes active — not from the moment it is queued behind other work. Pro delivery is prioritised at 24 hours. These are business days, and they are averages across requests rather than a guarantee on any single one; a 4,000-word technical piece and a headline do not take the same time and we will not pretend they do.

If a request is going to miss its expected turnaround, we tell you before it slips, with a new date. We would rather give you a date we keep than a date you like.

5. Revisions

Revisions are unlimited for as long as your subscription is active and apply to any piece we’ve delivered — including a landing page we delivered three months ago. Each revision enters the queue as an active request and is handled in turn. It is never refused and it never jumps the line; newer requests are worked in the order received alongside it.

The one line that matters: a revision improves the piece against the brief as submitted — tighten the headline, change the tone, cut the length. If a revision changes what the piece is — “actually we don’t want a landing page, we want an email sequence” — it becomes a new request and enters the queue as one. We will tell you which we think something is before we do the work, and if it is genuinely borderline we treat it as a revision.

6. Pause and cancel

Billing cycles are monthly, from the date you subscribed.

7. Ownership of the work

Every deliverable becomes yours outright — full ownership, no licence back to us, no shared IP, no usage restrictions — on the day your week-one refund window closes (day 8 of your subscription, §8) or on delivery, whichever is later.

During your first seven days you hold a licence to review the work we deliver, not yet ownership to publish it. If you take the week-one refund, the work was never yours to keep, and the money and the work both go back where they came from. This is the only reason the vesting date exists; after day 8 nothing about ownership is ever conditional.

Two further commitments:

8. The week-one refund

If you are not satisfied in your first seven calendar days from your subscription start date, tell us and we refund the full monthly fee. No questions asked, no retention call. This is a satisfaction guarantee, not a free trial: during week one we deliver your first piece promptly — that is how you judge us — but a new account is not owed a sprint through its whole queue before the window closes.

9. Your rate, locked

The rate on your first paid invoice is your locked rate, and it stays locked for as long as your subscription remains continuously active — paused months included. Price increases for new clients never reach you.

Cancelling ends the lock. If you cancel and later return, you return at the then-current rate.

We deliberately keep capacity limited so every request gets real attention. When there is room at the current rate, you can have it; when there is not, the rate for new clients steps up. In return we ask only for honest feedback and — if you are genuinely happy — a testimonial. A testimonial is never a condition of anything, and declining one changes nothing.

10. What we will not write

We decline work that is unlawful, that is designed to deceive readers about who is speaking, that fabricates facts, testimonials, reviews or credentials, or that we consider harmful. This is not a moral posture aimed at you — it is the same standard that protects your copy from being written by someone with no standard.

11. Liability

Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost revenue or lost profits arising from copy you chose to publish. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes are emailed to active subscribers at least 30 days before they take effect, and if you do not accept them you may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of the unused portion of your current cycle. A locked rate is never changed by a terms update.

If the business that operates WordJoy changes form — for example, from a sole proprietorship to a company — we will tell you, and §1 and §13 will be updated to name the new operator. Your rate, your queue and your ownership of delivered work are unaffected by that change.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States.
